Five Boro Bike Tour News

On Sunday, May 4th several of our members attended the TD Five Boro Bike Tour.  This year we dedicated the Tour to our founding UBC Latino Bike Team member Louis Delgado.  The ride started at 8am sharp at Battery Park in Manhattan and touched all 5 Boroughs of New York City and ended at Fort Wadsworth, Gateway National Recreation Area in Staten Island.  In the end, there was a Bike Tour Festival full of entertainment, food, giveaways, and all kinds of exhibits and other activities.

We would like to thank the Volunteers and Riding Marshals who got up early for the 6am set-up to help make this event successful.  These members are Carlos Pereda, Antonio Coyoc, Chuck Reyes, Maritza Rivera, BeBe Brown, Juan Gonzalez, Cecilia Raymond, Erik Molina, Christina Perez, Eric, Ruben City Carpenter, Eddie Bracken & Eddie Herrero.

We would also like to thank our Sponsors:  District Council, Local 157, Local 1556, Local 740, Local 45, Local 2287, Alex Rosado from Rosado, Checanova & Brasali, and Randi Segal.  Their support has been tremendous and is greatly appreciated.

The Day After…

At our May 5th Meeting we raffled off a BlackDiamond Shimano equip 21 Speed Mountain Bike. The lucky winner was ticket #0576 held by Natalia Lee Gonzalez, daughter of Juan Gonzalez of Local 157.  Proceeds will go to Memorial Sloan Kettering Children’s Cancer Unit.  A representative will be joining us at our June 2nd Meeting to receive the donation and give the Latino Club a Merit Award for participating.
