Puerto Rican Day Parade Coverage 2014

We marched this past Sunday, June 8th, 2014 in the National Puerto Rican Day Parade.  The weather was gorgeous and rain missed us by one day.  It was a successful event with Andre Faria of SixCentz  providing our Float with Freestyle artists Jill Tirrell, Julio Mena and Trilogy.  We also had a DJ who entertained the lively crowd in between sets down 5th Avenue.

Our Princess this year was Victoria Castillo, daughter of Cecilia Raymond from Local 157.  Princess Victoria was at the head of the New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters  wearing a lovely baby blue gown which complimented the navy blue t-shirts that were donated by the District Council.  She was chauffeured on a convertible driven by Alejandro Rodriquez of Local 157.  As she waved to the mass of spectators she sported a sash with the words “UBC Latino Club” creatively drawn by artist Laurie Peruyero.

In attendance from the District Council was EST Joseph Geiger and Vice-President Michael Cavanaugh.  Also in attendance was Mitch Sonntag, President of Local 157.  We even had visitors from our Brotherhood in Boston.  Pictures of event were taken by Julie East and her associate, Morgan Clarke from the DC and other members, family and friends who either marched with us or were in the crowd along the parade route that spanned from 44th Street to 79th Street.
