March the 60th PR Parade with the UBC Latino Club 6/11/17

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2017 along NYC’s 5th Avenue (b/w 44th & 79th st.) from 11am to 5pm.

UBC Latino Club Members, Family & Friends:
The New York City & Vicinity Latino Carpenters of America will be meeting up a bit earlier to set up our float for the Parade. If you are coming from the East side, you would need to go down 42nd Street & 6th Ave (Avenue of the Americas) to gain access to our starting location on 46th Street. We will be at 46th St & 6th Ave @ 10:00am to give out the rest of the wristbands. Please show your Union Card. First come first serve. Marching approx. @ 1:00pm. Stay tuned for updates.

Congratulations to Mike Burns from Local 157 for winning the bike.

We will also be holding Elections for New York City & Vicinity Latino Carpenters of America Executive positions.  Come to vote on the positions for:  President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Correspondence Secretary, Chairman of Trustee, Trustee (2), Editor, Director/Warden, and Communications Chairman.

Puerto Rican Day Parade News Update:

The 60th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade is a GO!  After a change in circumstances over the controversy of this year’s honoree,  the Executive Board has made the decision to continue the tradition of marching.  Come to pick up your wrist band at Monday, June 5th  meeting.  Since there is a limited amount…first come, first serve. Also, we will need volunteers to help set up float on Sunday, June 11th @ 10:00am so please sign up.

 

Next Members Meeting will be held Monday, July 10th due to Independence Day.  Join us and other clubs of the NYC District Council of Carpenters for UNITY OF THE CLUBS (location to be determined).

RALLY!!! Bill 1447 to increase safety standards for all construction workers in New York City

REMINDER! Join us at City Hall on Tuesday, Jan 31 at 11:30am to stand up for jobsite safety! Too many deaths have been occurring on New York City construction sites – 30 in the past two years to be exact. The time is NOW to stop this trend. #HowManyMoreMustDie

City Council Must Pass Real WorKer Safety Legislation
Councilman Jumaane Williams has introduced Bill 1447 to increase safety standards for all construction workers in New York City.

Dead Construction Workers Have No Voice!
Join your fellow Trades Workers as we give a voice to the dead. Members of the Building Trades will protest deadly exploitation to ensure that our fallen counterparts have a voice in making our industry safer.

August 3rd, 2015 MEETING **NEW LOCATION**

Dear Union Carpenter Sisters & Brothers,

Summer months are here and again we will have our August 3rd meeting at Escape Penthouse in Astoria, Queens.

As you may already know, we will no longer be holding our monthly members meetings at 395 Hudson Street due to Cushman & Wakefield occupying the 10th floor.

We are excited though to bring you to our new Summer Location for July 6th & August 3rd meetings. This place was highly recommended by our very own Juan Gonzalez and will surely be a very nice change in scenery for the warmer months.

Please join us as we will have guest speakers for Emergency Preparedness as well as from our Carpenter Veterans new group NYCDCC US Armed Forces Veterans Alliance.

We will also be raffling off baseball tickets for a September 20th game and making a reservation list for our Third Annual Dinner Boat Cruise.  (Possible change: We may have a Dance instead of Boat.)

PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE, Sunday, June 14, 2015

UBC Latino Club Members, Family & Friends:

Join us on Sunday, June 14th to March at this year’s 2015 National Puerto Rican Day Parade down 5th Avenue from 44th-79th Street.

LOCATION to Meet:  44th Street & 6th Avenue. Please use 6th Avenue to enter location. If you are coming from the East Side you will have to go down 42nd Street and 6th Avenue.

**Meet up at 9:00am for the Volunteers for Float Setup.

**Those with Wristbands, Meet up at 10:00am

**March will be at approx. 11am.

April 6th, 2015 UBC Latino Club Members Meeting

**Registration to ride the TD FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR is closed but we are still looking for Volunteers and Riding Marshals for Sunday, May 3rd. Breakfast, Lunch, & T-shirt provided**

Union Carpenter Brothers & Sisters, Our April 6th meeting coming up kicks off the many events you have been waiting for!

Bike Raffle Tickets are currently being sold to raise funds for our Charity of choice, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Children’s Unit. Tickets are just $5 each and you’ll be helping support a worthy cause.

Get your Bike Raffle ticket! The Executive Committee of the UBC Latino Club and participating Members will be selling tickets. Raffle will take place on Monday May 4th and are only $5 for a 21-Speed Jeep Bike.

Join us today as we gear up for the Five Boro Bike Tour. Meet Team Captain Juan Gonzalez​ from Local 157 who will be hosting a Clinic and get your Team shirts squared away. Registration is closed but we are still looking for Volunteers to help with event Sunday May 3rd in all the Boroughs.

We will also have Guest Speakers for upcoming events and will have Elections in June for Positions on the UBC Latino Association Executive Committee. So come on down to 395 Hudson Street, 10th Floor to register for a Community Service of your choice and select a Member to be Nominated. Bring a Friend too :-)
